Trader Joe's Gone Bananas

Trader Joe's Gone BananasHello and Happy Monday!

First of all Congratulations to the winner of my Yummy Diet Food Snack Pack giveaway: Laurel from Bake Me More! Congrats! If you didn't win, no worries, as I will be hosting more exciting Yummy Diet Food giveaways in coming weeks based on the foods you told me were difficult for you to find! However, if you are anxious to find and purchase a particular food or set of foods that I've featured on Yummy Diet Food (non perishable please), you can email me at yummydietfood@yummydietfood.com, and I'll see what I can do to get you what you are looking for! Now, onto today's regular food programming...

I thought today I'd post about one of my favorite desserts (and favorite childhood treats) from Trader Joe's -- Chocolate Dipped Bananas (since some of you have written in to tell me that you don't have a Whole Foods nearby, which is a huge bummer).

So, first of all, why eat bananas? Well, bananas are a great energy source, and are believed to help regulate a person's mood, thereby helping with anxiety and stress. They are also a great natural source of fiber, protein, and potassium which is believed to help cellular growth in addition to helping to control blood pressure. Also full of antioxidants like beta-carotene, bananas help boost our immune systems, protecting our bodies from infections, which is always a good thing!

If you like bananas, and want to eat an occasional one dipped in chocolate (bananas go so well with chocolate!) -- Trader Joe's makes a delicious chocolate covered banana called "Gone Bananas" which you can find in their freezer section. Inside the box you'll find four individually wrapped chocolate covered bananas (of small but not extra small size in my opinion). The ingredients for each one are: banana, chocolate (cocoa paste, cocoa butter, sugar, soy lecithin), and sunflower oil. Each chocolate covered banana is 160 calories and 8 grams of fat, so 4 weight watchers points.

PS. In case you aren't interested in eating chocolate covered bananas, remember, you can always freeze and eat bananas on your own - frozen bananas make a totally delicious snack or addition to your yogurt or oatmeal. My posting on frozen bananas has instructions on how to properly freeze your bananas!

Enjoy!
Juliet

I don't have a Whole Foods nearby, and we don't have Trader Joe's in our state. Double bummer. I do love frozen bananas - they're creamy like ice cream.

It looks like one of these treats would equal about 2 weight watchers points...assuming you use medium bananas.

What a coincidence! I bought these last week as well and really enjoyed them. They taste just as good if not better than an ice cream and they are totally wholesome! What a great find.

Just FYI - I ran through the WW recipe builder and they are 4 points if you make them per the above recipe. Same as TJ's
