I *loved* eating rice crispy treats when I was a kid, but I barely ever come across them now that I'm an adult. In particular, rarely do I find a box at Trader Joe's that has a giant picture of a favorite childhood treat on it next to the words "100 calories".
In this case Trader Joe's has succeeded in creating a really tasty, creamy marshmallow treat geared towards adults who are health conscious (organic, whole grain, and brown instead of white rice) but want a special treat that isn't completely unhealthy to eat every once in a while.
In the calorie department these bars are 100 calories and 2.5 grams of fat, and less than 1 gram of fiber (so 2 weight watchers points). In terms of ingredients the bars are totally gluten free and contain whole grain brown rice, organic vegan marshmallows, as well as a strong but yummy vanilla flavor. Like with all the foods I blog about, they do *not* contain high fructose corn syrup.
I'd love to know -- What was your most favorite childhood treat and do you still eat it now?
Enjoy!
Juliet
PS. For those of you that like to know the general size -- the bar is approximately 3 inches long and slightly wider than it looks in the picture on the box.

I can't remember any childhood treat right now. I was pleased easily, so a candy was enough to make me happy and a chocolate was luxury!
I can't remember any childhood favorite treat either, since I have so many food allergies, haha - but I have great alternatives that bring back nostalgia!!
Mine was actually rice krispy treats- everyone said I always made them the best and I can't remember the last time I've made them now- these look like they're worth a try though
my favorite treat was mini marshmallows,[no one told me when i was 5 there were made from pork gelatin-ewww]and anything with a lot of sugar really-haha.
I have tried another brand of vegan brown rice marshmallow treats by 'Glennys' [they also have peanut/caramel flavor which is awesome! They sounds exactly the same with these nutrition-wise!
oh , i also reeeeeally loved cotton candy![still do but shhhhhhhhhhh...]thank god I almost never eat it.
Tasty. Used to love it when my mum made rice krispy squares... mmmm delicious.
Twinkies - negative.
Snickers - mini.
I could eat that whole box.
Ooh, I've seen these but never knew if they were any good or not.
My favorite childhood treat...my grandfather used to make a "black cow with whiskers" -- Coke, vanilla ice cream, and a teensy bit of rum.
I live in Queens, NY and went to my Trader Joe's in Hewlett and they told me that this product was discontinued. I was so disappointed, the store manager told me that they were not selling. I was lookng forward to trying them.
I'm so sorry. That is so unfortunate. I will start working on a low calorie rice krispy treat recipe. I have some great low calorie rice cereal that would be a great base.
Brown Sugar and Cinn. PopTarts. Still yummy! They've come out with low(er) fat, but certainly not healthy.
