Today I thought I'd post about an additional all natural (and vegan!) snack / appetizer that Tandoor Chef makes called spinach Pakoras. If you've never had a pakora before, it is basically a deep fried Indian snack ball made with chick-pea flour (in this case combined with spinach) combined with traditional Indian spices. They are really good!
Since I am always watching what I eat, I never ever order these when I go out to get Indian food, even though they are always there on the menu temping me. That's why I was so happy to find a version I could keep at home and portion control!
What's awesome about these particular pakoras is that they are really big. Two of them (which is a really hearty snack) are 100 calories, 6 grams of fat, 1 gram of fiber, and 3 grams of protein (so 2 weight watchers points). Or, if you just want a quick fried-food fix you could eat just one for 1 WW point (so worth it!).
Another potential upside of these pakoras is that they come with Chutney sauce (which I assume is included in the calorie count above). I haven't yet tried it (I already love the taste of the pakoras without sauce), so please let me know if you like it.
I found these at Whole Foods!
Enjoy,
Juliet

me? Ive such a timid palate (is that a good way to phrase that Im a picky eater?? :)).
agree, Indian food is not easy to prepare at home because it requires so many spices and the smell of them stay in the kitchen for long hours which is not so good once you finished having meal.
I'll try this one, it looks appetizing!
Wow, those look so good. I love Indian food, but like you would never order this at a restaurant. I will definitely be trying these!
That does look tasty, and I love that they're low-cal. It's a win-win!
