A Lower Calorie Kind Bar

low calorie kind barI love Kind bars -- they are all natural and contain ingredients like fruits, dates, nuts, honey, etc. like Lara Bars (which I also love), but they are more crunchy and more nutty, which is what I crave sometimes. The only issue with Kind bars is that they can be a bit high calorie (despite all their great ingredients) simply because honey, nuts, coconut, etc. put together is a healthy, but not extremely low calorie, snack. For instance, a flavor of Kind that I love called "Almond and Coconut", is 190 calories and 14 grams of fat...so I usually just eat it occasionally, since there are many other healthy snacks I can eat for fewer calories.

But luckily, there is one flavor of the Kind bar that I've discovered called "Walnut and Date" that is less calories than the others -- with only 150 calories, 7 grams of fat, 3 grams of fiber and 2 grams of protein per bar - so 3 weight watchers points. It is also *very* delicious (just not my favorite since the other one has coconut). The "Walnut and Date" bar also has a lot going for it -- it is all natural, dairy free, gluten free, and wheat free. I'm a nut lover, and I think this bar is the perfect blend of walnuts (one of the best nuts you can eat), dates and honey. It is both sweet and nutty at the same time!

I buy Kind bars at Whole Foods, but I've seen them tons of other places including some Safeways.

Enjoy!

  3. Sounds pretty good, but I can't eat them (they're not vegan). I'll stick to my beloved Larabars :0)
