Low Calorie Lunch Pockets

low calorie lunch pocketsI'm a big fan of Amy's organic foods - they are very tasty, convenient, made with healthy all natural ingredients, and often very low calorie as well! I've written before about Amy's low calorie soup, steel cut oatmeal, and her macaroni and soy cheese.

Today, I wanted to write about two of her pocket sandwiches, which are an awesome find for a quick and filling low calorie lunch.

Tofu Scramble Pocket
I've always really liked tofu eggs. I discovered them a few years ago when I was vegan. Tofu makes a very delicious egg substitute and has a consistency that I actually like more than regular scrambled eggs (mostly because tofu eggs aren't ever runny). Amy took tofu eggs to the next level by combining them with onions, red peppers and mushrooms, wrapping it all into a delicious 180 calorie (and extremely satisfying) bread pocket. The Tofu Scramble Pocket is 100% vegan, and has 6 grams of fat and 11 grams of protein, making it 4 weight watchers points -- a perfect breakfast, snack (if you are really hungry!), or lunch. If you eat cheese and like cheese with your eggs, you might consider placing a slice of low fat cheese on top of the pocket if you want a whole omelet experience.

Spinach Pizza Pocket
I love pizza and I love this pocket more than Amy's regular cheese pizza pocket. I think what I love about it is the fact that they combined both feta and mozzarella cheese into the delicious crust. It also has spinach in it which is a great food to have in your diet (spinach contains many nutrients that help protect our bodies against many ailments).

Amy also makes pockets in some other flavors including: broccoli and cheese, cheese pizza, spinach feta, and vegetable pie (this looks really good, but I have yet to try it).

I buy Amy's at Whole Foods (they have an amazing selection), but I've seen them available at other stores like Safeway. They have a great store list sorted by state on their site.

Enjoy!
Juliet

I saw these at Whole Foods, and I was tempted to buy them (since i lovveee pizza and scrambled eggs too). Haven't tried tofu scrambled like eggs, but I do like it in general. However, I had to skip these items on this trip cuz my basket was already loaded with frozen goods that I'd barely be able to get in the freezer. hehe

I have the same problem with my freezer sometimes. :)

I've seen these at Stop & Shop.

What is the bread on the outside like?

Hi Hangry Pants,

The breading is of decent thickness (not like a thin tortilla or anything like that). I'm into bread and find it very satisfying. You can kind of tell from the picture.

It definitely isn't the most seasoned bread in the world, but the inside filling makes up for that. I hope you like them if you decide to try them!

Seen these before, never knew if they were any good. I know it's a terrible way to buy things, but the label always looked so boring so I never bothered =).

Thanks for sharing! I saw these at Safeway the other day, but wasn't sure about them. Might pick them up next time. Thanks so much.
