Yummy "Pepperoni"
Hi, my name is Evan, and I’m a friend of Juliet. She asked me, having a more meat-friendly perspective, to write a post about one of my favorite healthy meat substitutions: Hormel Turkey Pepperoni. This stuff is a great find! Since pepperoni derives its flavor from the spices and not the mystery meat it’s made of, the turkey version tastes exactly the same as any other pepperoni. As you can see from the picture, however, it has 70% less fat than regular pepperoni. That adds up to 50% fewer calories per serving. A serving, by the way, is 17 slices (2 WW points) making it one of the few foods where one serving is actually more than I want to eat at a time. In fact, half a serving, or 9 slices, is only 1 WW point! I like to make mini low calorie pizzas on each half of a low calorie english muffin, 4 slices on each side. I usually eat the turkey pepperoni on those, but they go well as a snack paired up with an apple, a string cheese, or some crackers. We’ve found it at all of our nearby major supermarket chains, including Safeway and Albertsons.
